Cornerstone Food Drive - August 2020

Blessing the donations
Six SUVs loaded and ready to go
Unloading food at Cornerstones Food Bank

Many thanks to all the brothers who helped to make Saturday's Food Drive to
support the Cornerstones Food Bank a success. The Family of Man Council
collected an estimated 2800 pounds of food and toiletries. Cornerstones
estimated the value of the donation to be $4536. For context, we collected about twice the amount SJN normally receives when the van is here for the week. A special thanks goes out
to Eddie Byrne who arranged the many pickups from the SJN family.

We had a strong showing of Knights helping out on Saturday. Whether you
were picking up food in the neighborhoods, loading the vehicles, or helping
unload at Cornerstones this was a worthy effort by the Council. For
context, a typical SJN weekend where parishioners drop off donations yields
about 1400 pounds. We collected enough to fill six SUVs.

Please remember to thank the many members of the community who donated.

Thanks to our council Chaplain Father Heet, OSFS and Father Brennan, OSFS for joining us. For those who were present, we enjoyed a nice blessing of the donations by our Oblates
before we delivered it to Cornerstones.
