Knights Again Observe the Fourth with a Boom!

On the Fourth of July, Sir Knights Tom Carter and Bob Balog again celebrated Independence Day with a boom, actually six booms! These Brothers, both retired US Army Field artillerymen, volunteered to serve as two crew members on the five-man Ball’s Bluff Civil War Battlefield Cannon Demonstration Team. They rolled the cannon, a reproduction James six-pounder, out to the middle of the battlefield while a brass band from GMU played period music. They fired six rounds (powder only!) to the delight of the 75 spectators that were there. Afterwards the entire crew provided an explanation to the spectators on the individual roles they carry out in firing the piece. Happy Independence Day!
