Knights Celebrate 4th with a Boom!
On the Fourth of July, Sir Knights Tom Carter and Bob Balog celebrated Independence Day with a boom, actually four booms! These Brothers, both retired US Army Field artillerymen, volunteered to serve as two crew members on the five-man Ball Bluff Civil War Battlefield Cannon Demonstration Team. They rolled the cannon, a reproduction James six-pounder, out to the middle of the battlefield while a brass band from GMU played period music. They fired four rounds (powder only!) to the delight of the 70 spectators that were there. Afterwards, SK Tom & Bob spoke with three fellow Knights from Council 2384 in Merced, CA who were visiting the area.
