Knights Host Veterans Visit to DC

As part of the National Honor Flight Program, Knights from the Family of Man Council assisted WW2 and Korean War Veterans who visited DC on Wednesday, July 11th. Over 100 men and women from the Chicago area who had served in the Military toured the Service memorials that day. Each was accompanied by a Guardian, including Brothers Bob Balog, Grant Buehrig, and Joe Skowronski, throughout the day. On arrival at Dulles Airport, the Veterans were greeted by hundreds of well-wishers, the Fairfax County Community Band, local first responders and members of the NYFD, and then taken on a day-long tour. The Veterans were moved by the reception and grateful for the heart-felt thanks they received from tourists and others throughout the day. The next Honor Flight form Chicago will arrive on August 8th. Additional volunteers to act as Guardians and Greeters are always welcomed!
