Welcome Family of Man Council's Newest Sir Knights
On Saturday, October 31st at the Westfield's Marriott Washington Dulles Hotel, over 266 candidates from around Northern Virginia and the surrounding regions were exemplified to the status of Fourth Degree and earned the designation of "Sir Knight";. This was the third largest group in the history of the Knights of Columbus in the State of Virginia to receive such an honor.
The Fourth Degree centers on the principle of Patriotism and is the final level for a Knight of Columbus. Members of the Knights are patriotic citizens and are proud of our devotion to God and country and are to remind the world that Catholics support their nation and are amongst the greatest citizens.
This was an important event for the Family of Man Council because of the number of brothers being exemplified to the Fourth Degree.
The Council welcomes our newest Sir Knights:
- Sir Knight George Armstrong
- Sir Knight Lawrence (Chris) Gallagher
- Sir Knight David Siewert
- Sir Knight Alexander Zane
- Sir Knight Tom Zorn
Our Sir Knights were also honored to be welcomed by Faithful Navigator George J. Costigna, Jr. PGK, PFN from the St. Elizabeth Bayley Seton Assembly #1781 which all Sir Knights from our Council are members of and who personally extended an invitation to our Sir Knights to attend the Assembly's upcoming meeting in November to be recognized as the Assembly's newest members.
In attendance to officially observe and witness this important event were Sir Knight Chris Yorke and Sir Knight Steve Saiget. A special moment was accorded to Sir Knight David Siewert and Sir Knight Chris Yorke who were selected to be flag bearers during the parade of American flags at the opening of the evening's festivities and proudly represented the Family of Man Council.
