Knights of Columbus' Continuing Catholic Education Series on the Nicene Creed

The Knights of Columbus' Family of Man Council invites all members of the SJN parish to engage in our ongoing Catholic Education series. On Thursday, October 12, 2023, we present the concluding episode of the enlightening six-part Word on Fire Institute video series led by Bishop Robert E. Barron, dedicated to an in-depth exploration of the Nicene Creed.

The Nicene Creed, whose origins trace back to the Fourth Century Council of Nicaea, represents a formal proclamation of faith that emerged from profound theological deliberations. It stands as a foundational tenet embraced by both Eastern and Western branches of Christianity.

In Lesson 6, titled "One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic," we delve into a thought-provoking question: While it is undoubtedly fitting to express our faith in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is it not worth pondering whether it is appropriate, or perhaps even verging on idolatrous, to profess our belief in the Church? The inclusion of this affirmation in the Creed underscores a fundamental truth about the Mystical Body; it serves as a tangible embodiment of Christ's divinity. The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church extends the gifts of forgiveness, calls us out from the world's distractions, and beckons us towards the promise of a life beyond this earthly existence.

This session, which is free to attend, will be hosted in the Brown-McCarthy Auditorium, commencing at 7 p.m. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for adult discussions and the enjoyment of light refreshments and beverages. We anticipate concluding the evening's proceedings by 8:30 p.m.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to join us for this enlightening presentation and actively participate in this enriching evening of Catholic Education.
