The Saiget Family was selected at the Virginia State Family of the Month for February 2017 and State Deputy presented a certificate in recognition of this at the Appreciation Dinner on July 18th. SK Steve Saiget led a Council initiative for the Brothers to support the Domestic Church by taking on greater individual and Council roles during the Hypothermia Shelter hosted by SJN in January. Knights were encouraged to volunteer for the many positions required to carry out this week-long effort and the Council prepared and served a dinner to the many guests who come to the shelter.
Following the Officer Installation on July 18th, The Family of Man Council hosted an Appreciation Dinner for our Immediate PGK and Year-3 Trustee, SK Steve Saiget. The world-class dinner was prepared by Brother John Geraerdts assisted by many able Brothers who also served the meal. During the Dinner, Past Grand Knights of this and other Councils were recognized. PGK Steve Saiget was honored for his selfless dedication to the Knights and the SJN Community and he thanked the Council for their tremendous service to the Domestic Church for the past year.
The Family of Man Council #7566 Officers for Fraternal year 2017 – 2018 were officially installed during a ceremony on July 18th. Our Worthy DD, SK Phil Bayer, officiated at the Installation which also saw our PGK and Year-2 Trustee SK Bill McInerney made District 17 Warden. Approximately 80 brothers and spouses attended the Installation that included the State Deputy, Stephen Kehoe, as our honored guest.
On June 24th, 2107, Brother Loren Biegler from the Family of Man Council received his Knighthood in the Order at a Third Degree Exemplification at all Saints Parish in Manassas, Virginia. During this ceremony, 63 Knights from several Councils in the Northern Virginia area received the Knighthood Degree. This Degree represents the principle of Fraternity wherein the good works of individual Knights demonstrates how Catholics serve each other in fraternity and mercy. All the State Officers and local district Deputies observed the Ceremony.
The Scholarship Committee of the Family of Man Council is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the 2017 Knights of Columbus Scholarships. Out of the thirteen applications that were submitted to the Committee for review and consideration, three students were selected to each receive $1,000 scholarships. On behalf of the Family of Man Council and the Scholarship Committee, we would like to congratulate the students listed below for their significant achievements and contributions to their school, St. John Neumann Parish and our community.
