On the weekend of March 12th, Family of Man Council held their annual KOVAR charity drive, collecting over $2,000 that will go toward grants and home loans to tax exempt organizations providing training and assistance to citizens with intellectual disabilities. KOVAR (http://www.kovarva.org) is a Virginia Knights of Columbus Charity established in 1971 to provide financial assistance through grants and home loans to tax exempt organizations providing training and assistance to citizens with intellectual disabilities.
Brother Knights and family members from our Family of Man Council were out in force on Sunday, February 28th supporting the Special Olympics Potomac Region Basketball Tournament at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. Our Knights, spouses and teens were actively involved in registering tournament officials and teams, timekeeping, score keeping, providing event logistics and officiating 28 basketball games throughout the entire day.
On Sunday March 6, the Knights of Columbus will be serving breakfast in the Brown-McCarthy Auditorium from 8:30 to 11:30am. Join us as we look forward to the end of all this snow and the arrival of Spring! The beneficiary is Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children. Their mission is to advocate for the best interests of each abused and neglected child referred by the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court through the promotion and support of quality volunteer representation.
Join the Knights of Columbus and the High School Teens for our Mardi Gras dinner on Tuesday, Feb 9, 5:30 to 8:00 PM in the Brown-McCarthy Auditorium.
The menu includes Jambalaya, Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Other Mardi Gras Favorites,Beer, Wine and Soft Drinks.
The proceeds from your free-will offering will be donated to the St. John Neumann teens participating in this year’s Diocesan Work Camp!
