24th Annual Special Olympics Plane Pull Event

On Saturday, September 17th, Brother Knights from the Family of Man Council of the Knights of Columbus volunteered their services to the Special Olympics organization at the 24th Annual Dulles Day and Plane Pull.

The annual event attracted an estimated crowd of 15,000 people who turned out for fire truck rides, a classic car show, helicopter rides, and the featured event of the day — the plane pull. FedEx and United Airlines both donated planes for the effort, as nearly 100 teams put up $1,500 apiece for the chance to pull a 160,00 pound Airbus A-320 12 feet.

American Red Cross Blood Drive A Success

The Knights of Columbus Family of Man Council has been hosting local blood drives with the American Red Cross for many years. These periodic events conducted at St. John Neumann on a Saturday and supported by local parishioners and Brother Knights is an important contribution to the local community and helps promote a worthy cause that help save millions of lives each year.

Welcome New Knights to the Council

On August 16th, the Family of Man Council had the honor of officially welcoming new Knights into our Council by conducting a First Degree Exemplification ceremony for three new Brothers.

Pictured (from left to right) are Brothers Ed Rafferty, Steve Quammen and Andy Hintiw. Our new brothers were invited to join our Council through the worthy efforts of our Council’s Warden, SK Chris Gallagher and Treasurer and PGK Keith George.
