Please join the Family of Man Council and your fellow parishioners at the first Charity Breakfast of the new year on Sunday, January 7, between the end of the 7:30 AM Mass and the start of the 11:30 AM Mass, in the Brown-McCarthy Auditorium at St John Neumann, Reston. This month's charity is A Best Choice Mobile Ultrasound and Pregnancy Resource Center. As is the Council's custom, we select a Respect Life charity for our January breakfasts.
The Family of Man Council #7566 2017 Christmas Social and Yankee Swap was held on Friday, Dec 15th, in the SJN Auditorium. More than 50 Brothers attended this gala event and were treated to a delicious Filipino Dinner prepared by Chefs Jane Kalinowski and Anneke Gibbons. Many Brothers helped in the kitchen during the two-day prep for this fantastic meal. Brother Bob Andres also served up a special IPA for the occasion and, of course, there were a few other beers available. The dinner was immediately followed by the ever-popular Yankee Swap.
The Family of Man Council will host our monthly Charity Breakfast one week later than usual -- on December 10, between the end of the 7:30 Mass and the start of the 11:30 Mass. Our charity for this breakfast will be Helping Hungry Kids, providers of food packages to school children in Northern Virginia who lack adequate food on weekends when school is not in session. As usual the net proceeds of the free-will contributions will be provided to this charity.
Please join the Knights and your fellow parishioners for a wonderful breakfast!
The 2017 PGK Dave Craven Chili-Cook-Off was another spicy success with nine empty crockpots servicing as silent testimony as well as the contended looks of the more than 60 Brothers who attended. Special thanks to the Knight-chefs who accepted the challenge: Brothers Mike Poland, Louis Wise, Chris Gallagher, Joe Skowronski and Ed Walsh. Congratulations to the winners: 1st Place – PGK George Keith, 2nd Place – Brother Steve Quammen, 3rd Place – Brother Bob Andres. Appropriately, the Cook-Off ended with a toast to our departed Brother Dave Craven.
On November 20th, three Brothers of the Family of Man Council # 7566 advanced to the Second Degree of the Order. Brothers Thomas McCluskey, Grant Buehrig, & Jeff Loss, sponsored by Membership Chairman Mike Poland, participated in an Exemplification Ceremony at St. Theresa Parish in Ashburn, VA. We congratulate these Brothers on their advancement as Knights of Columbus and humbly encourage them to continue to grow to full Knighthood in the Third Degree.
