Family of Man Council Serves Meals to Shelter Residents

On Saturday, September 14th, nine Family of Man Council members cooked and served hamburgers and hot dogs for the residents, staff, and drop-ins at the Embry Rucker Shelter in Reston.  This was our first cookout at the Shelter since 2019.

In mid-afternoon, we transported the large SJN grills to the Shelter, where we set up on the small hill behind the Shelter. We had time to socialize while preparing the charcoal for cooking. We then cooked approximately 120 hamburgers and hot dogs each. Two members of our team then served the hamburgers and hot dogs, along with drinks and sides prepared by the shelter staff, to all the diners.

Our heartfelt thanks go to our chef (again), Dave Donnelly, and all the Brother Knights who made this community event possible. We truly appreciate your dedication and hard work.
