Family of Man Council Hosting Quarterly Blood Drive on September 3, 2022

The Family of Man Council of the Knights of Columbus will host our quarterly blood drive with the American Red Cross on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 8 AM to 2 PM at the Saint John Neumann Parish Center Auditorum, at 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, VA.

The Knights are committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations. This blood drive is our way of giving our members, fellow parishioners, and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives.

According to the Red Cross, blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients, and trauma victims.

“The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition. Therefore, we urge eligible donors to join us in the selfless act of giving blood.”

Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative, and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients.

Donors can register online at www.redcrossblood.org using the sponsor code STJOHNNEUMANNVA. You can also call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 to register or get answers to eligibility questions. In addition, you may contact John Owens of the Knights at blooddrive@kofc7566.us if you need help with the process. Finally, you can accelerate your check-in by going online on September 3 before you come and using the RapidPass function to do your pre-readings and questionnaire.
