Family of Man Council's February Charity Breakfast to Support Christ House

The Family of Man Council of the Knights of Columbus will hold our monthly Charity Breakfast on February 6, 2022, between the conclusion of the 7:30 AM Mass and the start of the 11:30 AM Mass. The beneficiary of the breakfast Free-Will donations is Christ House in Alexandria, which houses four Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA) ministries that provide food to the hungry, shelter for the homeless, and clothing to those in need.

The Christ House Transitional Housing program addresses the need for shelter, workforce development, and life skills training for homeless men in our Diocese. Its recently renovated facilities afford single men a safe, clean, and welcoming environment reclaiming their self-sufficiency and independence. In addition, Christ House provides intensive case management, workforce development, and job coaching to increase clients' prospects of long-term financial independence and sustained housing success. The program also offers weekly psychological counseling (individual and group therapy) and life skills training to support clients' long-term personal resilience. Christ House seeks to move its residents to financial self-sufficiency and independent housing and prevent their return to homelessness by advancing clients through these program components.

In addition to the transitional homeless men's shelter, there is a soup kitchen that has provided evening meals to about 50 guests every night for the last 43 years, a food bank (a branch of CCDA's St. Lucy food program), and a thrift shop that provides vouchers to homeless people for free clothing.

Half of the proceeds from your Free-Will contribution at the breakfast will go to the shelter and soup kitchen (which operate as one financial entity), and the other half to the food bank.

Please join your fellow parishioners for a delicious Sunday morning breakfast in the Brown-McCarthy auditorium and support this worthy program.
