The Knights of Columbus Family of Man Council 7566 proudly announces Mae Pearl O’Neill as the recipient of its 2024 scholarship. Mae, the daughter of Matthew and Amy O’Neill, has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship for her outstanding achievements and dedication to her education and community service.

Mae, a graduate of Chantilly High School, will attend James Madison University this fall. There, she plans to major in Marketing and minor in Sports Management. She embodies the teaching of St. Frances de Sales: “Be Who You Are and Be That Well,” a principle she has demonstrated throughout her academic and extracurricular pursuits.

During high school, Mae actively participated in various church and community activities. She attended the Steubenville Youth Conference in 2022 and 2023, lectured at multiple masses, delivered numerous Salesian reflections, and led talks for both the Rooted and Middle School groups. Mae’s commitment to service extends beyond her church involvement; she has been a dedicated Girl Scout for 12 years, earning her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards and the Silver Trefoil Community Service Award.

Mae also played a significant role in the Children of the American Revolution, a non-partisan organization that fosters young leadership through professionalism, patriotism, and service. She held local and state leadership positions and was the National Public Relations Chairperson during her senior year, managing the organization’s social media presence.

In Mae’s own words, her educational journey is about acquiring knowledge and cultivating character, polishing one’s spirit, and striving for excellence in serving others. She says, “Education is not merely the journey of knowledge: It is the cultivation of character, the polishing of one’s spirit, and the pursuit of excellence in service to others. My desire for higher education stems from a profound commitment to personal growth, intellectual curiosity, and the aspiration to make a positive impact on the world.”

The Family of Man congratulates Mae on her achievements and wishes her great success in all her future endeavors.
