Knights Sponsor Charity Breakfast for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington
On Sunday, October 3, the members of the Family of Man Council of the Knights of Columbus sponsored our first Charity Breakfast in nineteen months. The Council selected the Immigrant & Refugee Assistance Program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA) as the beneficiary of the Charity Breakfast. The Knights will donate over $1,900 of the net proceeds of the breakfast to CCDA’s program.

GK John Moran welcomed all to the breakfast, and then introduced Mr. Stephen Carattini, the President and CEO of CCDA.

Mr. Carattini described how CCDA and the Diocese has a long history of involvement in refugee assistance, and how CCDA and the Diocese are welcoming Afghan refugees with Special Immigrant Visas arriving into the USA under “Operation Allies Refuge.” CCDA efforts include assisting the families with identifying housing; providing employment assistance, health, and legal service; and coordinating donations provided to CCDA for the refugees. Contributions received by CCDA provide resources which are not covered by the funding from the Federal Government. Afterwards, Mr. Carattini spoke to individuals attending the breakfast and provided literature about CCDA and the refugee assistance program.
The Knights are thankful for everyone who attended the breakfast and supported this worthy cause.
Our next Charity Breakfast will be on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Breakfast is served from the conclusion of the 7:30 Mass until the start of the 11:30 Mass.
